Indian pacer set to miss Asian Games 2023

Indian Men’s Cricket team is going to play the Asian Games 2023 from 28th September. Their star bowler Shivam Mavi got injured due to which he might be replaced by Umran Malik.

According to the reports of the Indian Express the exact reason for Mavi’s injury is still unknown. Earlier it was expected that Yash Thakur who was in the stand by player list will replace Mavi but Thakur also got injured as his back was injured.

Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the men’s team while the women’s team will be led by Smriti Mandhana who will take the charge in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur due to the punishment she got for her rude behavior against Bangladesh.

Due to strict rules and regulations no reserved player will travel to Hangzhou, China where the games will be played. All the players in the squad will start their fitness training programme two weeks before the Asian Games in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under the coaching of VVS Laxman and Sairaj Bahutule. Laxman and Bahutule were selected as the head coach and bowling coach respectively for the team.
