India finally announced their squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit Sharma will lead while Shubman Gill will be the deputy of the team.
The 15 members squad will also be part of the upcoming England ODI series. They will play 3 ODIs – 6, 9 and 12 February.
Jasprit Bumrah who got back spasm during the Border-Gavaskar trophy has also marked his name into the list. Earlier he was in little doubt whether to take part in the tournament or not.
Shreyas Iyer also got his name into the list whereas KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be the two keepers. Rahul is most probably to be seen behind the stumps whereas Pant might be his backup. Yashasvi Jaiswal was also added to the list and will be a backup opener. He is yet to play any ODI matches till now.
Mohammad Siraj failed to put his name into the list whereas Arshdeep Singh got the opportunity for the very first time to play an ICC event in 50-overs format. Mohammad Shami who got injured after 2023 ODI World Cup, will play the upcoming ICC event.
Karun Nair who was in tremendous form in the domestic circuit was highly in demand for the tournament but unfortunately couldn’t make it into the 15. The chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that in future if any player will be out of form or injured then Nair might make up into the squad.
Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, the two spin Indian all-rounders along with Washington Sundar got their name into the list. Kuldeep Yadav is the only prime spinner for the team.
