Harmanpreet Kaur will not play the first two games of the Asian Games. She was found guilty after her aggressive behaviour against Bangladesh in the 3rd ODI and also regarding defaming the umpire during the presentation. She breached two ICC Code of Conduct.
The incident occurs when she was given out in the 34th over and Harmanpreet shatters the wickets with her bat. Then afterwards during the post match presentation, she blames the umpires for their bad dismissals.
For the former aggression, Kaur was fined 50% of the match fees and received three demerit points on her disciplinary record.
Kaur was found guilty of breaching article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and player personnel support regarding the disapproval of the umpire decision. She also got fined 25% of the match fee for a level 1 offense relating to “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match” for his remarks to the umpire during the presentation.
Akhtar Ahmed, Match Refree of the Emirates of the ICC international panel, proposed the sanctions and the Indian skipper accepted all the offenses, therefore no further formal hearing is required and penalties will be initiated.
The Indian skipper overall got four demerit points which was converted into two suspension points. So as a result, either she can’t play one test, two T20s or two ODI whichever will come first. Therefore India will play their next match in the Asian Games but unfortunately she had to miss the first two T20 matches of Asian Games.
