Indian most dependent batsman Virat Kohli and currently World’s most aggressive batsman and skipper of Indian team Rohit Sharma again caught the limelight when Ex-Indian national team selector Chetan Sharma showed his faith among both the players.
Chetan was in the limelight when he was caught in a sting operation last year in February 2023, where he said that there was an ‘ego clash’ between Virat Kohli and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. After the sting operation he was removed from the post.
Now during an interview with News24, he said that Virat is like his son and he always praises his batting and eagerly waiting for his 100th International century.
“Virat Kohli is like my son. He is so much younger. Why would I say bad things about him? I always pray for his well-being. It gives me immense happiness to see that he's become a legend. I hope he comes back and scores centuries to reach the 100-ton mark in international cricket. Virat is an icon of Indian cricket. I am waiting for his return.”
Former Indian selector not only finished here, he praised the role that Rohit Sharma played during the ODI World Cup and took his team to a great and aggressive start always. His sacrificial role is also commendable.
“You will find very few players who will sacrifice themselves for the team, because they have a long-term plan. We just have to go and play at the top and the rest will handle themselves. I appreciate it. In the World Cup, he did his job. Gave India explosive starts at the top, scoring 40, 50. Took India to 80/0. What more do you need? He did his job and then it was up to the rest. The way India played at the World Cup. We didn't only win 10 matches, we roughed them up. I didn't feel anyone could play cricket in the world like India did.”
Currently India is playing a Test series against England where the English team leads the 5-match series by 1-0. Rohit and company lost the first match by 28 runs in Hyderabad. The 2nd Test will start from 2nd February in Vizag.
