India-Pakistan tensions ignite Champions Trophy drama

As there is just less than a month left for the Champions Trophy, a new tension arises between India and Pakistan. This time the problem arose for wearing the jerseys.

According to the rules of ICC, the country which hosted the ICC tournament, the other countries need to wear their respective jerseys and have to print the name of the hosting nation and the official logo of the tournament. As Pakistan is the host for the upcoming Champions Trophy, all the countries need to print the hosting nation name to their respective jerseys.

According to the report in Times of India, the BCCI (Board of cricket control in India) have refused to print Pakistan in their jerseys. Not only this, the Indian board also decided not to send their skipper Rohit Sharma for the captains press conference which will be held in Pakistan.

The board has requested ICC to make a nod to their request.

To this PCB didn’t like the behavior of the arch-rival and said, “BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain for the opening ceremony; now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan.”

Earlier also due to BCCI’s request the matches of team India had been shifted from Pakistan Dubai.

India has already announced their squad for the upcoming tournament but the hosting nation is yet to make their squad announcement. Both the teams are in Group A where two other teams – Bangladesh and New Zealand are there.
