Sri Lanka’s final game ends with a devastating win

Finally Sri Lanka bids this season with a great win against Netherlands. It was also their first win in this tournament. They won the match by 83 runs. 

Sri Lanka’s last match got washed off due to rain against Nepal whereas Netherlands lost their last match which was against Bangladesh. 

The Dutch skipper, after winning the toss, chooses to bowl first. 

Sri Lanka scored 201/6 in 20 overs and in reply Netherlands managed only 118/10 in 16.4 overs. 

First time in this tournament, Lankans opted for the aggressive role. Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka were the highest scorers from the side as both of them scored 46 runs each. Mendis played 29 balls and hit 5 fours in his knock while Asalanka played 21 balls and hit one four and 5 sixes. 

Towards the end, Angelo Mathews and Wanindu Hasanranga hard hitting took the team score 200 par. Mathews got unbeaten on 30 runs off 15 balls whereas Hasaranga also got unbeaten and scored 20 runs off 6 balls.  

Logan van Beek got 2 wickets while Vivian Kingma, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren and Tim Pringle got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, the Dutch team struggled a lot and kept losing wickets one after the other. Michael Levitt and skipper Scott Edwards are the highest scorers from the side with 31 runs each to their credit. None of the other batters tried to pull up the show. 

Nuwan Thushara claimed 3 wickets while Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana got 2 wickets each. Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka got 1 wicket each.
