Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) became the table toppers after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs. It was Lucknpw’s biggest defeat in terms of runs.
Knight Riders scored 235/6 in 20 overs and it was the first time when any team crossed 200 mark at Ekana. Super Giants in reply scored in overs.
In their previous encounter, Phil Salt’s ravishing hitting got Kolkata an easy win against Lucknow.
After winning the toss, Lucknow opted to bowl first.
Once again the men in purple got a destructive start and put 61 runs in just 4.2 overs. Phil Salt scored 32 runs in 14 balls in which he hit 5 fours and a six. Sunil Narine once again showed the power of his bat and scored a brilliant 81 runs in just 39 balls. In his knock he hit 6 fours and 7 sixes.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed well and got 32 runs with the bat. But it was Ramandeep Singh’s power hitting due to which the team scored the highest score. He put 25 runs in just 6 balls where he hit 1 four and 3 sixes. He got unbeaten till the end.
Naveen-ul-Haq got 3 wickets while Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Yudhvir Singh got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, the team struggled a lot as they were unable to get a big partnership. The highest was between KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis for the 2nd wicket which was 50 runs. Stoinis was the highest scorer with 36 runs while Rahul contributed 25 runs.
After the fall of the 2nd wicket the remaining batters went to pavilion one after the other.
Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy both got 3 wickets each while Andre Russell picked 2 wickets. Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine got 1 wicket each.
