Pakistan shows their spirit in the field after defeating New Zealand by 21 runs (DLS method). They are still in contention for the playoffs.
New Zealand scored 401/6 in 50 overs and in reply PAK scored 200/1 in 25.3 overs. Due to rain, the target was set 342 runs in 41 overs but the rain again started and by the DLS method, Pakistan was 21 runs ahead at that time.
After winning the toss, Pakistan skipper opted to bowl first.
Kiwi openers started well as Devon Conway (35 runs) and Rachin Ravindra (108 runs) provided 68 runs for the 1st wicket. Rachin is stunning in this World Cup and hit his 3rd century of the tournament. In his innings he hit 15 fours and 1 six. He along with Kane Williamson (95 runs) built a partnership of 180 runs. Williamson in his returning match played a brilliant knock and played just 79 balls in which he hit 10 fours and 2 sixes. He missed the century by just 5 runs, but was looking fit throughout the match.
In the end, Mark Chapman (39 runs) and Glenn Phillips (41 runs) batted destructively. Mitchell Santner (26 runs not out) also hit a couple of sixes and took the team total to 401 runs in 50 overs by losing 6 wickets. It was also their highest score in the World Cup.
Mohammad Wasim Junior got 3 wickets while Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed and Hasan Ali got 1 wicket each.
PAK also started in an aggressive way. Fakhar Zaman (126 runs not out) continued his form from where he left and scored a fantastic century. He scored the fastest century by PAK in a World Cup. In his knock he hit 7 fours and 9 sixes. He along with Babar Azam (66 runs not out) made a partnership of 194 runs. They were going well and scored 200/1 in 25.3 overs but then rain again started and the match had to be called off.
