VVS Laxman who is the head coach of National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be seen coaching the Indian Men Team during the Asian Games 2023. It will be held in Hangzhou, China.
Earlier Laxman was seen in that role last year, when he engaged with the team against the Ireland series. This year also during the Ireland series he was considered as the head coach as Rahul Dravid was given rest due to upcoming series and tournaments back to back, but as in NCA the training camp was going on and as a result he stepped out and Sitanshu Kotakn was named as the head coach during the Ireland series.
Sairaj Bahutule will be bowling coach and Munish Bali will be fielding coach for the men’s team.
While the Women team will be coached by Hrishikesh Kanitkar. He already played the role earlier for the women’s team during the T20 World Cup, against Australia and South Africa series last year. Romesh Powar, ex-head coach, was removed from the department due to the allegations made by the players against him. After that, the Women’s team had no permanent head coach.
Rajib Dutta will be the bowling coach and Subhadeep Ghosh will be the fielding coach for the women’s team.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the men’s team whereas earlier Harmanpreet Kaur was named as the captain for the women’s team but her rude behaviour during the Bangladesh series got punishments and as a result she won’t be able to play first two T20 matches. Smriti Mandhana will replace her for those matches as a captain.
