Aussies had an upper hand at the end of day 2 of the WTC final. India need 119 more runs to avoid the follow on.
Australia added 142 runs to their day 1 score and made 469 runs. Siraj took 4 wickets, Shami and Thakur took 2-2 wickets each and Jadeja grabbed 1 wicket.
Travis Head scored 163 runs before getting out from Siraj. Smith scored his 31st test century and made 121 runs. Alex Carey shows some fire in his 48 run innings.
Indian batting faltered from starting. Rohit and Gill got out cheaply and Pujara and Kohli also followed the same. India were 71-4 at one time. Then Rahane and Jadeja stabilized the innings and put together 71 runs. Jadeja got dismissed just 15 mins before the day end. He made 48 runs which consisted of 7 fours and 1 six. All the five bowlers took 1 wicket each. Boland shines with his economical spell. Starc and Cummins produced some trouble for the batters early on. Lyon and Green were also seen consistent with their line and length.
Scott Boland said “ Really exciting and pretty nervous before the start of the test but nice to get into this game. He is a very good player, nice to knock him over early (on asking about Gill). We are in a very bad spot now. We are strong after 2 days. The pitch is a bit up and down and hopefully it will be harder for India to bat tomorrow. It felt like that in the middle a couple balls were taking off, a couple keeping low.”
