West Indies celebrates first Super 8 success

West Indies maintained their hopes for the Semis after registering a huge win against the USA. They won the match by 9 wickets and with this United States’s hope for the semi final is hanging by a thread.  

USA scored 128/10 in 19.5 overs and in reply West Indies scored 130/1 in 10.5 overs. 

Both the teams lost their last matches, USA got a close defeat against South Africa while West Indies got bashed heavily by England. 

Rovman Powell, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. 

United States batters choked heavily as they were unable to get some good runs on the board. Andries Gous scored the most runs for the team as he managed 29 runs with the bat. 

Skipper Aaron Jones once again failed to perform and got only 11 runs. Towards the end, Ali Khan showed some power hitting and scored 14 runs in 6 balls and took the team score close to 130 runs. 

Andre Russell and Roston Chase both got 3 wickets each while Alzarri Joseph got 2 wickets. Gudakesh Motie got 1 wicket. 

In the chase, Shai Hope just showed his full destructive side and scored a brilliant unbeaten knock of 82 runs in 39 balls. It was also his highest score in the T20. In his knock, he hit 4 fours and 8 sixes and has a strike rate of 210.26. 

Nicholas Pooran also supported him from the other end and scored unbeaten 27 runs in just 12 balls. He hit one four and 3 sixes. 

Harmeet Singh got the only wicket for the team.
