VVS Laxman set to join new IPL franchise for 2025?

One of the prominent former Indian batsmen, VVS Laxman, is likely to leave the National Cricket Academy (NCA). After this many IPL franchises are interested in making him as their coach. 

According to some reports of Times of India, the current NCA head has been approached by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for making an entry into the coaching role. Currently Lucknow is having Justin Langer as their head coach, Lance Klusener as the assistant coach and Morne Morkel as their bowling coach. 

Earlier some reports also suggested that KL Rahul might also part his ways from the franchise and will play for RCB in the upcoming season. 

Laxman’s contract as a head coach in the NCA has been in the final duration and the reports added that he is not interested in renewing his contract. He was earlier approached by the BCCI to get the position of Rahul Dravid as a head coach, but he refused to take the position. Although he got the coaching role for the national team for some international matches.    

Vikram Rathore, the former Indian batting coach, has been in touch with the BCCI to get the role for NCA heads. The final declaration is yet to be confirmed. 

Laxman was earlier a part of the IPL as mentor of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during 2013-2021, after that he got the coaching head position in the NCA in November 2021 as Rahul Dravid (was the head coach till 2021) became the head coach of the Indian team.
