Brilliant bowling by the Australian bowlers on the 3rd day of the 2nd Test of the Ashes. Restricting great looking England to the below par score. England only managed 47 more runs to their day 2 score and lost the remaining 6 wickets. They got all out after scoring 325 runs.
Stokes was the first one who departed after scoring 17 runs in 58 balls. A thick edge of the bat and Green took it easily at the gully, Starc made him make the mistake. Harry Brook already got a life after being dropped by Labuschagne but he couldn’t convert his innings to a great extent. He went out after scoring his half century and made 50 runs. Again Starc provided the breakthrough.
After that Bairstow was the one who departed and again soft dismissal. Hazelwood took him off. He goes out for 16 runs. After his dismissal strings of wickets continue and go one after the other. Then Head took the charge in bowling also and took 2 wickets in the same over and got Robinson and Broad. Robinson made 9 runs while Broad made 12 runs. Last one was Tongue whom Cummins took it easily and departed after scoring 1 run.
Starc led the way by taking 3 wickets. Hazelwood and Head both took 2 wickets each. Cummins, Lyon and Green settled with 1 wicket each. Australia got the lead of 91 runs.
In the 2nd innings Australia started well and put 63 for their 1st wicket partnership. Warner was the first one who fell down. He immediately went for the review but unfortunately the three colours favored the English bowler. And he went out in a similar way to the first innings. He scored 25 runs and again Tongue took his wicket. Then Labuschagne and Khawaja made more than 60 runs. But Anderson broke the partnership and got the wicket of Labuschagne who made 30 runs. Khawaja was not out and made 58 runs till now and Smith was on the other end who was not out at 6 runs.
After that the drizzle starts and the play stops. And after waiting for a few minutes it was finally declared by the umpire stumps. And Australia were 130/2 at the end of the day. And they lead by 221 runs.
