The Ashes| Aus vs Eng| 1st Test| Day 1| Full Highlights.

Joe Root scored a century in the 1st Test of Ashes. England surprised everyone with their declaration on Day 1 at 393/8. They were scoring at the rate of 5.04.

Joe Root scored his 30th century and remained not out at the time of declaration. He scored 118 runs in 152 balls which includes seven boundaries and four sixes. Zak Crawley and Johnny Bairstow scored half centuries. Zak made 61 runs and Bairstow made 78 runs. Crawley hits seven boundaries in his innings while Bairstow hits 12 boundaries in his innings.

Nathan Lyon took 4 wickets but he gave away 149 runs in just 29 overs with an economy of 5.10. Hazelwood who missed the WTC final gets the chance and grabs 2 wickets. Green and Boland took 1-1 wickets each. Only Boland and Lyon were able to take one maiden over in their respective spells.

Australia on the other hand managed to go without giving away any wickets and scored 14 runs in 4 overs. Warner was in 8 runs and Khawaja was in 4 runs at the end of the day.

At the end of the day it might be quite shocking to see that Root was there and England declared their innings before crossing 400. They were looking good and they might try to show some nightmares in the day with their destructive batting in the Test of day 1. They were going with over 5 run rate and that too against the WTC champion.
