Sri Lanka now has announced the 15 member squad for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against India. Charith Asalanka will be the leader of the team.
Asalanka was earlier made the T20 captain 3-match series against India, but unfortunately they lost the series by 3-0. Men In Blue had already announced their squad which will be led by Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli will also be seen in the upcoming series.
Before Asalanka, Kusal Mendis got the opportunity to lead the team. Firstly in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he took the charge in between the tournament as Dasun Shanka their skipper got injured. Then he took the leadership charge for the series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe and had a win record of 6 wins in 8 matches.
Asalanka’s brilliant captaincy in the LPL (Lanka Premier League) got him to lead the team in this 50-over format also.
Nishan Madushka got his maiden call in the 50-over format. He played 8 Tests for the team and scored 547 runs with an average of 42.07. Chameera and Thushara didn’t make it to the final team selection due to illness and injury respectively.
