Teams Analysis

South Africa (SA):

They were the first team who got their place into the Super 8 round. Despite performing better in the pool stage, their batting is not up to the mark. Their star batters were unable to pull up the show while the bowlers did the hard work there and make their team to go to the next round.

David Miller is currently their leading runs scorer with 94 runs to his credit. He scored one half-century till now and that came in a winning cause against Netherlands where he scored unbeaten 59 runs with the bat. His strike rate is 98.95 and knows how to get hard anytime with his superb power hitting.

Their star opener and keeper, Quinton de Kock is unable to get those runs with the bat easily. In three matches he scored just 20, 0 and 18. Though he is the only batter in the team currently who has a strike rate of 100. He needs to be a little more accurate with his timing with the shots. Reeza Hendricks’ struggling with the bat goes on as he got dismissed on a single digit on all three matches. He needs to spend more time on the pitch, so that he can put up some runs on the board.

Skipper Aiden Markram only managed 16 runs in 3 matches. Finishers Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs managed only 69 runs and 46 runs with a strike rate of 94.52 and 65.71 respectively.

Anrich Nortje led the way for the team as he got most wickets with 8 to his pocket. His economy is also the best among the bowlers in the team, which is 3.58. He is using his bouncer pretty well and got most of his wickets in this radar. Ottneil Baartman supported him from the other end well and got 5 wickets till now, with an economy of 3.92.

Keshav Maharaj handled the spin department pretty well after grabbing 5 wickets with an economy of 6.08. But he showed his brilliancy against Bangladesh in the last over and took the match to his team.

Skipper Rohit Paudel is currently their leading run scorer with 35 runs to his credit. But he took 37 balls to reach there. The top order failed miserably against Netherlands in the first match. Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh and Anil Sah departed early in the first match.

Towards the end, Karan KC contributed with the bat as he scored 17 runs and with the bowl he was little economical as he conceded only 17 runs in his 3 overs spell. The match will be played at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent. Dimensions – 67m (hitting into the end) and 61m square boundaries, 76m straight down the ground. Some good carry will be seen. The pitch is very nice and hard. There’s a decent grass covering and a bit of greenness to the gras as well. The ball is going to carry through. It’s going to be a better surface.

The ball is going to come on more than what we’ve seen so far in this tournament. Morning game, there might still be a little bit of moisture. Win the toss, have a bowl first, see what it does. It’s going to play better.
