South Africa clinches semifinal berth

After England, South Africa marked their seat into the Semi-Final. They defeated co-host West Indies by 3 wickets. 

West Indies scored 135/8 in 20 overs. Then due to rain the match got reduced to 17 overs and the target was set to be 123 runs which the Proteas chased down in 16.1 overs and scored 124/7. 

Both the teams got victory in their respective matches. The Caribbean team showed their brutal form and registered a one-sided victory against the USA whereas the Proteas got a close victory against England. 

Aiden Markram, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. 

The Caribbean team lost their inform batters, Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope in just 5 runs. From there a solid partnership was built between Kyle Mayers and Roston Chase. Both of them added 81 runs for the 3rd wicket. 

Mayers who played his first match in this tournament scored 35 runs in 34 balls. Chase got his hand with powerful hitting and scored 52 runs in 42 balls. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. In the end, Andre Russell tried to pull up the scores but he only managed 15 runs in 9 balls. 

Tabraiz Shamsi got his nerves better and troubled the batters as he got 3 wickets in his 4 overs after conceding 27 runs. Marco Janse, Markram, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, Proteas also lost both of their openers in just 15 runs on the board. Then some small small contributions with the bat chased down the target in the last over. Tristan Stubbs scored the most runs for the team as he scored 29 runs in 27 balls. 

Heinrich Klaasen showed his power as he scored 22 runs in 10 balls. Then the final touch was given by Jansen who got unbeaten on 21 runs in 14 balls. 

Chase also shined in the bowling department and got 3 wickets in his 3 overs and conceded only 12 runs. Russell and Alzarri Joseph got 2 wickets each.
