In the group stage, Proteas got a close victory over Nepal at the last moments while the last match of USA got drained out due to rain which was against Ireland.

In the absence of Monank Patel, Aaron Jones took the leadership role and after winning the toss he opted to bowl first.

Quinton de Kock, for the first time in this season played a brilliant knock and scored a half-century. He scored 74 runs in 40 balls in which 7 fours and 5 sixes were included. He got good support from skipper Aiden Markram who scored 46 runs in 32 balls. Both of them added 110 runs for the 2nd wicket. Markram also might be felt relieved after getting some good runs with the bat,

Then towards the end, Heinrich Klaasen (36 runs not out) and Tristan Stubbs (20 runs not out) took the team score close to 200.

Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh got 2 wickets each.

In the chase, keeper Andries Gous played a fantastic knock as he got unbeaten on 80 runs but didn’t take the victory to his favour. He came in the opening and remained there in the crease for 20 overs and didn’t get out. He played 47 balls and hit 5 fours and 5 sixes in knock.

He was well supported by Harmeet Singh towards the end who contributed 38 runs with the bat. Both of them added 91 runs for the 6th wicket, and till the time they both were here looked an easy victory for the team but unfortunately they couldn’t get the par score.

Kagiso Rabada showed his experience there and got 3 wickets in his 4 overs after conceding only 18 runs. Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and Anrich Nortje got 1 wicket each.
