32nd Test century for Steve Smith helps Australia to reach the 400 par score. Australia made 416/10 in their 1st innings total.

Australia started their Day 1 score and Carey was the first one who departed at the score of 22 runs. Broad took him off. Firstly he survived but England took the review and three reds were there and he had to depart. Starc was the next one who got out. He just made 6 runs before Anderson took his wicket.

Then after scoring his 32nd Test century Smith got out after scoring 110 runs. Tongue got his wicket. Cummins tried to put more runs on the scorecard but tail enders didn’t support him much. He remains not out on 22 runs. Lyon scored 7 runs and Hazelwood scored 4 runs. Robinson took both of them.

Tongue and Robinson took 3 wickets each while Root contributed with 2 wickets. Broad and Anderson both took 1 wicket each.

England started pretty well and their opening partnership stood for 91 runs when Lyon took the wicket of Crawley who departed after scoring 48 runs. Then a great partnership built between Duckett and Pope but Green dismissed Pope and Smith took a brilliant catch. He scored 42 runs.

Just when Duckett was looking to score his maiden century then Hazelwood strikes just before 2 runs required by him to score his century. He got out on a score of 98 runs. Joe Root was the next man who departed by scoring 10 runs. Starc ended his innings. After that Brook and Stokes maintain the scorecard running and they both remain not out at the end of the day. Brook scored 45 runs and Stokes is at 17 runs. Both of them contributed 56 runs together till now. England was 278/4 in 61 overs at the end of the day.

Starc, Hazelwood, Green and Lyon got 1 wicket each. But Lyon was out of the ground since he got injured during the game. And on day 3 only will get updates about him.
