Shafali Varma’s knock sent DC into the WPL 2024 finals

Finally the first finalist for the 2024 WPL will be Delhi Capitals (DC), as they secured first place in the group stage after defeating Gujarat Giants (GG) by 7 wickets.

Also in the previous encounter between them in the 2024 WPL, Delhi registered an easy victory over Gujarat by 25 runs

After winning the toss, Giants opted to bat first.

Like in most of their matches, Gujarat struggled with their batting line-up more as compared to that of bowling. Again it shows in their last match where the top order failed miserably and they lost their first 5 wickets in just 48 runs. Bharati Fulmali (42 runs) was the highest scorer for the team.

She with Kathryn Bryce (28 runs not out) put 68 runs for the 6th wicket. After Bharati departed the run-rate again slowed down and the team managed 126 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.

Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey and Minnu Mani got 2 wickets each. Jess Jonassen settled with 1 wicket.

Shafali Verma (71 runs) took the charge for the chase and started hitting from the very first over. She just played 37 balls in which she hit 7 fours and 5 sixes. At the end, Jemimah Rodrigues (38 runs not out) continued her brilliant form and touched the victory mark.

The team chased down the target in 13.1 overs and scored 129 runs by losing 3 wickets.

The only wicket-taker for Gujarat in this match was Tanuja Kanwar who got 2 wickets.
