Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set a clinical win against Uttar Pradesh Warriorz (UPW) to maintain their hope alive for the playoffs. They beat Warrioz by 23 runs.
After two back to back losses, Bangalore got their home win. Their last defeat came against MI, where they lost the match by 7 wickets. Whereas Warriorz lost after two back to back wins, their last win came against GG by 6 wickets.
With this victory Challengers again came to the 3rd spot with 6 points in 5 matches while UP dropped down to 4th spot with 4 points in 5 matches in the points table.
After winning the toss, Warriorz opted to bowl first.
Bangalore started the way they wanted. For the first wicket they put up 51 runs for the. Smriti Mandhana (80 runs) again stepped up for the team and played a skipper knock. She played 50 balls in which she hit 10 fours and 3 sixes.
Then Ellyse Perry (51 runs) took the charge for the team and played a destructive knock as she played 37 balls and hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. Richa Ghosh (21 runs not out) also supported her from the other end. Due to the destructiveness from starting to the end, the team put up 198 runs in 20 overs by losing 3 wickets.
Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone got 1 wicket each.
During the chase, Warriorz’s skipper Alyssa Healy (55 runs) provided a solid start to the team. The team also started in a blasting way but with regular fall of wickets in the middle, they were getting off-track.
But in the end, Deepti Sharma (33 runs) and Poonam Khemnar (31 runs) showed little hope to the team with some blasting shots. But due to the huge target, the team couldn’t achieve that and finally they put 175 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
Sophie Devine, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham and Asha Shobana got 2 wickets each.
