Due to rain many hours were wasted on the 3rd day of the Ashes. Australia in their 2nd innings posted 224 runs and set the target 251 runs for the home team. England at the end of the day scored 27 runs without any loss of wicket.
Mitchell Marsh was the first one to go on day 3rd. He added 11 more runs to his 2nd day score and out on 28 runs. He just wanted to leave the ball but it touched his gloves at the last moment and Bairstow took a simple regulation catch. Woakes his 2nd wicket in 2nd innings. Next one was Carey who also wanted to leave the ball and the ball hit the wicket. Woakes made the mistake. He scored 5 runs.
Starc in his furious style of batting shows little destruction, but it couldn’t survive much longer. He made 16 runs in 19 balls. And Mark Wood did the damage. Wood in his next over took the wicket of the Australian captain and Cummins only scored 1 run. Todd Murphy tries to help Head but it is too late to support. He scored 11 runs and Broad sent him off. At last Head, who tried to hit some deliveries out of the ground, was the last one who was dismissed. He made useful 77 runs due to which Aussies set a target of 250+ runs. Broad dismissed him.
Australia were down with 224 runs and their 26 runs lead in the 1st innings set a target of 251 runs for England. Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes shine with 3 wickets each. While Mark Wood and Moeen Ali settled with 2 wickets each.
England in their 2nd innings posted a score of 27 runs in 5 overs without losing any wicket. Crawley made 9 runs and Duckett was at 18 runs at the end of the day. They need 224 runs to win while Australia need 10 more wickets. It is expected that the result will be seen on the 4th day, if the weather remains well.
