An all-round performance by Curran took Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a great victory in this last match. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets and this was the 4th loss back to back for the Men in Pink.
Royals after batting first scored 144/9 in 20 overs and Kings in reply posted 145/5 in 18.5 overs.
When these two met against each other in this season, a nail finish was seen by Rajasthan where Shimron Hetmyer clinched the win from Punjab in the last over.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan chooses to bat first.
A not so much better batting performance was seen by the Men in Pink as the batters were seen struggling to get runs easily. Riyan Parag was the highest scorer from the side with 48 runs to his credit. He took 34 balls to reach there and hit 6 boundaries. Ashwin was the 2nd highest with 28 runs.
Bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict the huge batting unit. Sam Curran, Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar got 2 wickets each. And with these two wickets Harshal Patel again claimed the purple cap with 22 wickets in this season till now. Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis both got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, Punjab also struggled as 3 wickets fell in just 42 runs on the board. But the skipper Sam Curran in his last match as he will move to England for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan, leading from the front in this department. He scored brilliant unbeaten 63 runs in 41 balls and hit 5 fours and 3 sixes.
He got a 63 run partnership for the 5th wicket with Jitesh Sharma (22 runs). In the end, Ashutosh Sharma (17 runs not out) got the winning run with his bat.
Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal got 2 wickets each while Trent Boult got 1 wicket.
