Pat Cummins named Australia’s Champions Trophy leader

Australia has now revealed their 15 players lineup for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy. As expected Pat Cummins will be the leader of the team.

Aussies are currently in Group B along with England, South Africa and Afghanistan. Their campaign will kick start from February 22nd against England in Lahore.

Skipper Pat Cummins is currently on paternity leave as he is expecting his second child soon, due to which he couldn’t play against Sri Lanka in the two match test series. While he also sustained an ankle injury for which he has to undergo scans. It is expected that he might get fully recovered before the upcoming ICC event.

Josh Hazlewood who got injured during the Border-Gavaskar trophy hasn’t been recovered yet. He is having a calf injury. He got his name into the list of 15 members and is also expected to get fit before the tournament.

Adam Zampa will only be the frontier spinner for the team. He might get some assistance from part time bowlers – Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head. Both of them are known for their destructive nature and the recent form of Head might give the Men in Yellow a great start.

Chief selector, George Bailey said, “This is a balanced and experienced squad with the core having been involved in the previous one-day World Cup, the West Indies series, last year’s successful tour of the UK and the more recent Pakistan home series. It offers a variety of options for touring management depending on opposition and the conditions that may present in Pakistan.”

Josh Inglis might be the main keeper of the team. Although he is currently recovering from the calf niggle. Alex Carry might be his back up.

Mitchell Starc will once again open the bowling attack for the team. Nathan Ellis also got his name and might be a good option along with Starc and Hazlewood in the pace attack.
