New Zealand announced their 15 member squad for the 2023 World Cup. Kane Williamson will be seen taking the charge as a captain as he was declared fit a few days back. He was injured during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Some of the hard decisions were made by the black caps as they only selected Tom Latham as their wicket keeper. Tim Seifert who was their back up wicket keeper was not included in the 15 members. Their destructive batsman Finn Allen misses to make a place in the squad.
Adam Milne, their inform bowler, has a hamstring injury during the ongoing England series and was included in the list.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead says, “It’s always a special time to name a tournament team and I would like to congratulate the 15 players selected today. It’s a great honour to represent your country at a World Cup. From Kane and Tim heading to their fourth tournament to the guys selected for the first time, it’s always an exciting time. As with any squad named for an ICC tournament, there have been some tough calls and there will be some disappointed players. The key for us was finding the right balance for the squad and making sure we had our bases covered for what is going to be a very competitive tournament.”
After India, Australia, South Africa, Netherlands and England they became the 6th team to announce their squad.
Till 28th September any team can change their selected squad.
