Scotland got the taste of their first victory in this tournament after defeating Namibia by 5 wickets.
It was both team’s 2nd match in this tournament. Namibia got victory against Oman in the Super Over whereas Scotland’s match against England washed off due to rain.
After winning the toss, Namibia opted to bat first.
Namibia scored 155/9 in 20 overs and Scotland chased down the target in 18.3 overs and scored 157/3.
The team got into trouble when they lost 4 wickets in just 55 runs. Then the skipper Gerhard Erasmus got the back of the team after scoring a brilliant half-century. He scored 52 runs in 31 balls and hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. He got a great support from Zane Green (28 runs) as both of them added 51 runs for the 5th wicket.
Then after the departure of these two, the wickets again started to fall one after the other and as a result the team couldn’t achieve the 160 mark.
Brad Wheal got 3 wickets while Bradley Currie got 2 wickets. Christopher Sole, Chris Greaves and Michael Leask got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, skipper Richie Berrington topped the chart for most runs as he scored 47 runs with the bat in 35 balls. He got unbeaten till the end. But it was Leask who came and accelerated the team’s innings after his contribution of 35 runs in 17 balls and hit 4 sixes.
Erasmus also led the bowling department with 2 wickets while Ruben Trumpelmann, Tangeni Lungameni and Bernard Scholtz got 1 wicket each.
