Men and Women will be paid equally in ICC events starting from World Cup 23.

ICC announces the equal payment for both the men and women in the upcoming world cups which also includes the Under-19 world cup. Not only the winner but also the runner-up, the semi’s team also in men and women and so on will also get the equal amount of money. It was declared during an annual conference in Durban. It has been initiated from this year’s WTC cycle, which starts from the Ashes starting from 16th June.

During the conference ICC chairman Greg Barclay said,

“This is a significant moment in the history of our sport, and I am delighted that men’s and women’s cricketers competing at ICC global events will now be rewarded equally. Since 2017, we have increased prize money at women’s events every year with a clear focus on reaching equal prize money and from here on in, winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will carry the same prize money as winning the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the same for T20 World Cups and Under-19’s too.”

ICC also decreases the fines of over rate from 100% to 50% max. The fine imposed on the players will vary from 5% to 50% decided by the ICC’s Chief Executive Committee (CEC). In the ICC website it says, “If a team is bowled out before the new ball is due at 80 overs, there will be no over-rate penalty applied even if there is a slow over-rate. This replaces the current 60 over threshold.”

Sourav Ganguly, chairman of Men’s Cricket Committee said,

“The Men’s Cricket Committee felt strongly that over-rate penalties in the form of WTC points deduction should remain but recommended that players should not have 100% of their match fee at risk. We believe this provides a balance between maintaining over-rates and ensuring we are not deterring players from  playing Test cricket.”
