A brilliant double century by Glenn Maxwell helped Australia to register a thrilling win against Afghanistan by three wickets. Now after winning the match they have qualified for the semi finals in the World Cup.
Afghanistan scored 291/5 in 50 overs and in reply Australia chased down the target in 46.5 overs and scored 293/7.

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran (129 runs not out) scored his highest one day score. He made a brilliant 83 runs partnership with Rahmat Shah (30 runs). Zadran in his innings hit 8 fours and 3 sixes. He was looking confident from the beginning and that resulted in a good brilliant century from him.
In the end some powerful hitting by Rashid Khan (35 runs not out) along with Zadran took his team to register 291 runs on the board in 50 overs by losing 5 wickets.
Jos Hazelwood got most wickets for his team by claiming 2 wickets. Mitchell Starc, Glen Maxwell and Adam Zampa got one wicket each.
During the chase Oz lost 7 wickets in just 91 runs. Then there came hard hitter Glenn Maxwell (201 runs not out) who took the match single handedly. He along with skipper Pat Cummins (12 runs not out) made a brilliant partnership of 202 runs. In this partnership Cummins just contributed 12 runs and struck one side of the pitch.
Maxwell just played shots all over the ground and scored the 2nd fastest double century. He then chased Down The Impossible looking target in 46.5 hours and scored 293 runs by losing 7 wickets.
Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq and Azmatullah Omarzai took 2 wickets each.
