Match 9: IND vs AFG| Match Analysis| Pitch Report| Best 11

The 9th match of the tournament will be played between India (IND) and Afghanistan (AFG).

India (IND) Analysis:

A great comeback victory by the Indian team against Australia in their first World Cup match. They defeated the most cup holding country by 6 wickets

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t get the start which he wanted and departed without scoring any run. He was very disappointed but he can make a strong comeback. He is a destructive batter and can make bowlers helpless from the start if he keeps on going. Ishan Kishan who got a chance in place of Shubman Gill was also departed without scoring any run. Nevertheless, he is looking in great form in the 50 over format. Shubman Gill will again miss the match as he is suffering from dengue and is hospitalized.

Virat Kohli showing his class in the last match he played. He played a sensible knock and that team also needs him the most. Despite being dropped on 12 runs, he never looked back and played with more confidence. He has been looking in tremendous form for the past year. He scored 85 runs against the Aussies. Shreyas Iyer also got out on a duck. But he proved himself in the recent series against Australia where he scored a century.

KL Rahul also stood head to head with Kohli. After making his comeback in the Asia Cup he is looking in some different form. Playing sensibly and playing according to the situation. He was the Player of the Match in that match as he scored 97 runs and also remained unbeaten at the end. Suryakumar Yadav is also a contender in the number 4 position and also played well in the series against Australia but it must be a tough competition between him and Iyer.

Hardik Pandya was a little expensive in his bowling and batted well as he didn’t get many balls. A great all rounder for the team and can accelerate the innings pretty easily. Ravindra Jadeja showed the power of his experience in playing in the Chennai pitch. He got 3 wickets by giving away only 28 runs. He damaged the Aussies batting lineup. Ravichandran Ashwin was also given a chance to play and he showed why he was included as he gave away only 34 runs in his 10 overs and also got a wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav again showed his bowling power and made the opposition hard to play. He is a dangerous bowler in the middle overs and is looking more sharp with his line and length from past year. Jasprit Bumrah’s bouncer and sharp yorkers again put him on top. He got 2 useful wickets and will again be dangerous in the start and death overs. Mohammad Siraj the most wicket taker from 2019 in the starting 10 overs will be definitely tough for the opposition in the starting overs.

Mohammad Shami has a great record against Afghanistan as he took a hattrick against them in the 2019 World Cup and became the match winner for the team. Shardul Thakur is a bowling all rounder and during batting he can show his power hitting with the bat.

Predicted 11 for the Match:

Rohit Sharma ©, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj.

Afghanistan (AFG) Analysis:

The last match that they played was against Bangladesh and in that match they lost it by 6 wickets. They failed in both batting and bowling which ultimately cost them the match.

Rahmatullah Gurbaz showed some bravery and played sensibly but he didn’t get any support from the other end. He scored 47 runs. Again he is eager to show his skills with the bat. Ibrahim Zadran failed to impress with the opening but has quite a good innings played in recent few series. Rahmat Shah is the most dependable batter from the side. He also failed to contribute with the bat but his experience in this format is huge and is eagerly waiting to show it again.

Hashmatullah Shahidi, skipper of the team, played a little slow but was unable to convert his innings to a big one and got out cheaply. Najibullah Zadran, also containing huge experience from the side in this format, got out cheaply in the match against the Bengal Tigers. He can rotate the strike well and is a great batter in the middle overs.

Mohammad Nabi is a great allrounder from the side. He didn’t abt well but bowled well with an excellent economy. During the 2019 World Cup, he almost took his team to victory against India. But got out in the last over and the match slipped from his hand. A dangerous batter in the death overs. Azmatullah Omarzai having less experience in ODIs but is added to the team as an all rounder.

Rashid Khan, the most experienced player from the side, was having an average performance in the first match. He has the capability to regain the performance quickly. A great finisher and more than that a great bowler who can turn the match any time with his spin. Mujeeb ur Rahman played a lot of IPL matches so he has more experience than most of the players in the squad in this country. Can turn things around quickly with his spin.

Naveen-ul-Haq made his comeback after a long time but couldn’t capitalize it very well. He had some heated exchange moments with Virat Kohli in this year’s IPL, it must be a great contest to watch these players against each other. Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled brilliantly but as the target was not big he couldn’t take his team to the victory. He is the main pacer from the team.

Predicted 11 for the Match:

Hashmatullah Shahidi ©, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi.
