Match 8: PAK vs SL| Match Analysis| Pitch Report| Best 11

The 8th match will be played between Pakistan (PAK) and Sri Lanka (SL).

Pakistan (PAK) Analysis:

After defeating Netherlands in their opening match by 81 runs, there are some flaws in their starting batters. Fakhar Zaman continuously failed to score runs at the top order. He had excellent season last year but this year at the start the things were going pretty well for him but as the days passed he was short with the runs. This needs to be improved in the upcoming matches.

Imam-ul-Haq also sends to the pavilion very cheaply. Despite a poor show with the bat he has played crucial knocks in the recent some series and can make his comeback very easily. Babar Azam, the leader of the team, has been in poor form through some times in  the recent few matches. He played superbly in the practice matches where he scored half centuries in both the practice matches that he played but he was seen struggling in the first match as he scored only 5 runs in 14 balls.

Mohammad Rizwan shows the courage and his dependability in the middle overs by playing 68 runs innings. He was looking great with the bat and assured that he can bat in the middle overs well. Saud Shakeel who made his comeback in the ODIs played a brilliant knock of 68 runs in 52 balls was awarded Player of the Match. He made his comeback memorable by taking out his team of danger at that point of time when already 3 wickets were lost.

Iftikhar Ahmed failed to contribute with the bat but his part time bowling spell in which he took some wickets has benefited the team. He can bat hard in the middle overs and is a highly dependable batter in hard times. Mohammad Nawaz shone in both the departments by providing some runs in the death overs and some tight bowling from him. Shadab Khan also delivers runs with the bat in the death overs and was upset during the time he got out and after choking in his early spell of bowling, he made a comeback and got a wicket.

Haris Rauf must be feeling better after he got 3 wickets in that match. He was little out of form with his line and length in the recent series that he played and also looted some healthy runs in the practice games. But in his last performance it might be feeling confident and it is again trying to show the same spirit.

Hasan Ali who made his comeback bowled beautifully and took 2 wickets in his comeback match and bowled economically. Shaheen Afridi, the main speedstar of the team got one wicket in that match.

There is expected to be the same playing 11 as they will play here 4th consecutive time which will eventually be easy as they read out the pitch pretty well.

Predicted Playing 11 of the Match:

Babar Azam ©, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali.

Sri Lanka (SL) Analysis:

They must be forgetting their opening match against South Africa where the Proteas humiliated them with the bat and scored the highest score of the World Cup till now. They lost the match by 102 runs, where South Scored 428 runs which is the highest in the tournament.

The target was so high and the openers failed miserably to give a good start. Pathum Nissanka departed in a duck whereas Kusal Perera departed after scoring only 7 runs. Perera makes his comeback after the Covid due to which he missed the Asia Cup. Kusal Mendis is carrying his great form of the Asia cup and scored with a rocket fire. His 76 runs in just 42 balls built some momentum. And is again to play a great knock in the upcoming matches.

Charith Asalanka also played a brave innings against Proteas. Despite being dropped his catch he was playing destructive in that innings. He is a great hitter of the ball and can easily turn the run rate. Sadeera Samarawickrama played some fantastic innings in the next few matches but this time in the first match he failed to capitalize it.

Dhanajaya de Silva failed in both the departments of bowling and batting. But he has the caliber to take his team out of danger and he did it many times. Again a solid knock is waiting for him in the upcoming matches. Dasun Shanaka after a slow start in the previous match played some destructive and scored 68 ryan but the target was so huge that eventually he got out and couldn’t take his team to the final steps.

Dunith Wellalage showed a great allround performance against India in the Asia Cup and the same is expected from him, but in the first match despite taking one wicket he was highly expensive with his spell and also departed to pavilion without scoring any runs. Some of the great news for the team will be the return of Maheesh Theekshana who is now fit enough to play.

Matheesha Pathirana and Kasun Rajitha spent 95 and 90 runs respectively in their spell. Both of them failed to provide economical spells and got destroyed by the Proteas batters. Dilshan Madushanka got 2 wickets but still he was beaten heavily by the South African batters and spent 85 runs in his spell.

Predicted 11 for the Match:

Dasun Shanaka ©, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis (wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Kasun Rajitha.
