Match 7: With King’s knock JT gets an easy win over SNP

Brandon King and Salman Irshad gave an easy win for Jamaica Tallawahs (JT). St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) scored 156/9 in 20 overs which JT chased down in the 17th over and won the match by 8 wickets.

It was JT’s 2nd win in the CPL. They won the inaugural match after beating St Lucia Kings (SLK) by 11 runs. With this win they topped the table with 5 points in 3 matches. 

After winning the toss Jamaica’s captain, King opted to bowl first. SNP lost their 1st wicket in the 3rd over when their Captain Lewis got out. Mohd Amir gets the wicket. Lewis only scored 9 runs. (24-1). Then Salman Irshad gets the other opener by dismissing Andre Fletcher. Fletcher looked good but he couldn’t convert his innings into a big one and made 23 runs. (37-2)

In the next delivery Salman gets the wicket of Corbin Bosch. He gets out on a golden duck. (37-3). Then the 1st Indian Player who featured in the CPL, Ambati Rayudu couldn’t show some spark in his very 1st match and got out on a duck. He survives the hattrick delivery but in that same over he gets caught by Imad Wasim in the delivery of Salman only. (37-4)

Gordon gets the wicket of in form batsman Sherfane Rutherford. Rutherford tries to build a partnership with Joshua Da Silva but he  fails to go far. He scored 16 runs only. (73-5). George Linde was the next man who got out. Imad Wasim gets the credit for his dismissal. Linde scores 14 runs. (98-6)

The highest scorer from Patriot’s side was the keeper batter Joshua Da Silva. He was the next man who went to the pavilion. Salman Irshad again shines with his pace and gets his man. Joshua scored 36 runs in 32 balls. (112-7). After that Amir comes and shatters the wickets of Cottrell and gets his 2nd for the day. Cottrell made 11 runs. (131-8). Then Amir gets another one in his last over by dismissing Muzarabani. Muzarabani made only 1 run. (148-9)

Dominic Drakes with his few pinch hitting in the death helps Patriots to get past 150 runs. He survived at the end of the day and scored 29 runs in 22 balls which includes 2 fours and 2 sixes. Oshane Thomas was the other batsman who got not out at the end. He wasn’t able to open his account. Therefore in 20 overs SNP scored 156 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. 

Both the Pakistani bowlers bowled well. Salman Irshad got 4 wickets while Mohd Amir cliched 3 wickets. Imad Wasim and Nicholson Gordon got 1 wicket each. 

Jamaica from the start they showed the power of their destruction and for the 1st wicket the openers scored 52 runs in the powerplay. Oshane Thomas broke the partnership by dismissing Kirk Mckenzie. Mckenzie scored 23 runs. (52-1). Then for the 2nd wicket King and Brooks added 69 more runs. Drakes after that gets the wicket Jamaican Captain. King again shows his consistency with the bat and this time he again scores a half century and makes 67 runs in 33 balls which includes 7 fours and 4 sixes. (121-2)

Then Shamarh Brooks and Amir Jangoo pulled the win for the Tallawahs. Brooks scored 38 runs in 31 balls while Jangoo made 17 runs in 15 balls. Both of them remain not out at the end. Therefore Jamaica won the match by 8 wickets with 21 balls left.  

Oshane Thomas and Dominic Drakes got 1 wicket each.
