Weekend evening starts in the city of nawab where these two teams will face each other. LSG home ground Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.
Last year two new teams were introduced, one of them was lucknow super giants. They finished 3rd in last year’s IPL but got eliminated by RCB in the eliminator. DC finished 5th last season and couldn’t qualify for the eliminator by 2 points but this year their new captain can change things.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):
KL Rahul again proves that why he is considered one of the greatest players in this format taking his team to the 3rd position and also the highest run scorer in his team. Rahul, De Kock and Hooda were the only batters who contributed well for their team.
Addition of Nicholas Pooran with a whopping amount will push their middle order which was seen lacking in the last season.
Also the addition of Daniel Sams and Romario Shepherd in the squad along with the existing players Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya gives a solid all rounders pillar for the team to sustain in all difficult situations.
Due to the injury of Mohsin Khan who was the star bowler from LSG will not be available in the opening match but also might remain outside from the team. He had the best economy rate below 6. Jaydev Unadkat might replace him alongwith Avesh Khan and Jason Holder in the death overs. Ravi Bishnoi and the experienced Amit Mishra leg spin duo will also contribute to the team.
Delhi Capitals (DC):
Forced change in the captainship by replacing Rishabh Pant and make David Warner due to unavailability of Pant because of his injury. However Warner is an experienced captain and already won the title in 2016 during the Sunrisers Hyderabad. A strong team with a strong captain will definitely boost the performance of DC and is one of the strongest competitors in IPL.
DC one of the main reasons for not qualifying last year was their poor batting performance except Warner and Pant. Their batting suddenly gets collapsed but the addition of Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey and Philip Salt will make the team balanced. Mitchell Marsh and Axar Patel the two promising all rounders must be watchable in both the innings.
Mukesh Kumar an uncapped indian player where DC spends a huge amount in purchasing is definitely a key to watch his bowling. He is a local player from Bengal where he took 32 wickets in Ranji Trophy. Kuldeep Yadav was the highest wicket taker from DC. This chinaman can be a huge difference maker. Mustafizur Rahman and Khaleel Ahmed, two left arm pacers are one of the hardest bowlers to play in the death overs.
