KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS (KKR) Analysis:
p c: Sportstar- The Hindu
KKR just played their last match against SRH the day before yesterday. Now they will play against MI. They won 2 and lost 2 matches. Nitish Rana has a solid team who has the capability to win the trophy.
KKR have a hard hitting batting lineup. Rahmanullah Gurbaz at the start of the season put some great runs and his opening makes opposition bowlers clueless at the start. Nitish Rana is looking in great touch and getting his rhythm right. Rinku Singh makes the noise through his batting and hitting of sixes makes everyone watch. Andre Russell could not get the runs as KKR wanted him to show his furious style of batting. Till now his batting is silent. Venkatesh Iyer also added some valuable runs in the middle and he is showing his worthy substitution. Thakur also adds some value in the lower order.
Nitish Rana must be worried that the last two times the opposition was able to score 200+ runs. They should have to be more precise with their lengths. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy spin duo provides some breakthrough in the middle of the innings and also their bowling cannot be beat up easily. The speedster of KKR was not economical. Lockie Ferguson and Umesh Yadav provided many runs in the death overs. Shardul Thakur is still in search of an economical spell.
In their last match against SRH posted a 228/4 score. Harry Brook scored his maiden century and the season 1st century by scoring 100 runs in 55 balls. Markram also scored 50 runs in 26 balls. During the chase KKR made 205/7 runs. Only Nitish (75 runs) and Rinku were able (58 runs) to fight against SRH.
Nitish Rana back in form against SRH.
MUMBAI INDIANS (MI) Analysis:
p c: Republic World
MI must be very happy by breaking their losing streak by defeating DC in their last encounter. Rohit also ended his dryness of runs. Now they will be moving ahead to look for more wins to get the trophy.
Rohit’s last fifty came in 2021 and now he has scored fifty after such a long time. But it came at the right time because MI needed that one. Suryakumar last year’s touch is still missing in this season and must be working on it and once he gets that touch then it will be impossible to stop him. Ishan Kishan starts well but he can’t convert it into a big one. Tilak Varma shows his extreme level of class and in each match he plays gets valuable runs to the team. Tim David and Cameron Green getting their form slowly.
Jofra Archer might not play the match due to injury. Jason Behrendorff provides early wickets to the team. He was not only taking the wickets but also economical. Piyush Chawla showed his experience in IPL and proved his worth by taking wickets at regular intervals. He is one of the highest wicket takers in the history of IPL. Riley Meredith superb wicket taking ability makes MI well settled in bowling.
Their match against the DC team posted 172 runs in 20 overs. David Warner (51 runs ) and Axar Patel (54 runs) provided useful runs to the team total. Piyush Chawla and Behrendorff took 3-3 wickets each. In response to this, Rohit (65 runs), Ishan (31 runs) and Tilak Varma (41 runs) provided useful runs to the team.
