Match 2: INDIA vs BAN |Game Review| Pitch Report| Best 11

The second match of the 2025 Champions Trophy will be between India (IND) and Bangladesh (BAN). It will get started at 2:00 PM (local) and 2:30 (IST).

They are in Group A and the other two teams are Pakistan and New Zealand.

India (IND) Analysis:

Men in Blue must be in high confidence after their brilliant performance in the ODI series against England. Rohit and company are looking brilliant and are one of the favourites in this tournament. They were brilliant during the 2013 Champions Trophy where they were undefeatable throughout the tournament. They definitely wanted to show this class again.

The team played 6 ODI matches in Dubai and they won 5 out of them while one remained a tie. All the matches that they played was during the 2018 Asia Cup.

Skipper Rohit Sharma must be feeling light after scoring a century against the English team in their last series. He looked a little off-track from scoring the runs and that must be giving him momentum for this tournament. This will be his 3rd appearance in the Champions Trophy. He played 10 matches and scored 481 runs in which one century and 4 half-centuries were included.

Like Rohit, this will also be Virat Kohli’s third time appearance in this tournament where he has 434 runs in his pocket. He is yet to hit a century in this format and has 4 half-centuries to his name. He loves to bat in the T20 matches played here and now he wanted to show his skill in the 50-over format.

Shubman Gill is also back into his form as it can be seen in the last series where he scored 259 runs in 3 innings with an average of 86.33. Shreyas Iyer also looked in great touch and scored runs well in the number 4 position. He has been consistently providing runs in the number 4 position.

KL Rahul might be picked above Rishabh Pant for the role of wicket-keeper. In the 2023 ODI World Cup he showed faith with his batting and has been seen little consistent in the 50-over format.

India must be without their main pacer Jasprit Bumrah but the presence of Mohammad Shami must have given them some kind of relief. Shami was the highest wicket-taker during the 2023 ODI World Cup and after the went for the surgery due to which he missed the international circuit but in the last England series he made his comeback and looked confident with his performance.

Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, two young lads will give him assistance in the pace department. Both of them have played very few matches in ODI but their recent performances have shown huge faith in them.

Spinners might get more useful to this wicket than pacers due to which Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy are there.

Rohit Sharma ©, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Kuldeep Yadav.

Bangladesh (BAN) Analysis:

The ODI performances of the Bengal Tiger team have not been so good. This will be their first ODI match as they last played against West Indies in December 2024, where they lost it by 3-0 (3).

The skipper of the team Najmul Hossain Shanto’s batting has taken a huge decline as the captain was unable to score many runs with the bat. His batting average dropped down to 34.60. Since more than one year he has been facing difficulty to score runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim who is one of the most experienced players in the campaign has played the last Champions Trophy where he scored 163 runs with an average of 40.75 which includes 2 half-centuries. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has played just one match in the 2017 season but unfortunately was unable to make any spark.

The opener Soumya Sarkar has been performing decently and he has been seen scoring runs with the bat. But in the 2017 season he didn’t look good as he only managed 34 runs in 4 matches.

Taskin Ahmed is the team’s prime pace bowler and is looking forward to showing his skills. In 2017 he got just 2 wickets.

Probable playing 11 of Bangladesh (BAN):

Nazmul Hossain Shanto ©, Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali / Towhid Hridoy, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman.
