Dwaine Pretorious, GAW, Player of the Match
“The guys told me at the start of the tournament that I will see the support from the Guyana team. It’s been unbelievable, feels like the crowd’s full, and it’s only half full. Looking forward to coming back and hopefully, the crowd will be out to support us. I came in the 14th over, we just wanted to play good cricket shots.
The first 2-3 overs set us up at the back end. We backed ourselves to get to 170. Glad we got to 186. If you try to hit the length on these wickets, you are always at the top of your game. So today was my day. Previous day was Shephie’s day. Immy is always positive.Nothing ever bad for Jimmy, glad to have him as a captain. I’ve played with him quite a bit, he backs me as a captain. So it’s good playing in this environment.”
Evin Lewis, SNP Captain
“We started well with the ball, in the backend we gave away too many runs. Dominic has been doing the job for us, basically we wanted him to bowl the last over for us. The wicket was very good, we didn’t get a good start in the powerplay and we were under pressure.
We have been trying to find the right combination but it’s not working out. We have to believe and we have to achieve, as simple as that.”
Imran Tahir, GAW Captain
“I wanna thank everyone who came out and supported us. I want to thank the Guyana crowd, that’s how you want to play cricket. It is very satisfying. Dwaine and Shefie gave us a very good start, that’s a captain’s dream. I am very happy with the way we have been bowling. I think we need to be little aware, we have been losing wickets upfront every game.
I want our top order to step up and get some runs. It’s a pleasure. Captaincy is a new role for me. I am lucky to get a good team. We enjoy each other’s success and that’s the most satisfying thing for me.”
