Team India announced one change in their squad ahead of the World Cup. Their all rounder Axar Patel misses out due to quadriceps strain and Ravichandran Ashwin was named as his replacement.
Axar got injured during the last match of the Super Four round of the Asia Cup where they played against Bangladesh. He fought well at the end and scored 42 useful runs but he was unable to finish off the things as they lost the match by 6 runs. Axar was facing some problems during his batting but despite getting problems he wanted to bat which eventually made it worse for his condition.
Ashwin was selected in the Australia series where in the first two matches he showed great skill of his bowling. In the first match he got 1 wicket but in the 2nd ODI he grabbed 3 wickets. He can also bat well down the order. Last year against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup he hit a four in the last ball and took his team to victory. He has a huge experience in the international circuit and will surely help the team to get the trophy again.
He was also a member of the winning squad of the 2011 World Cup.
