Earlier, a Virat Kohli century and later Ravindra Jadeja’s fifer helped India to demolish South Africa by 243 runs. It was also Proteas’ biggest defeat in terms of runs in ODIs. Also the 3rd biggest victory in terms of runs between full member teams in the World Cup.
India posted 326/5 in 50 overs and in reply South Africa only managed 83/10 in 27.1 overs.

Rohit Sharma (40 runs) started in his own fashion and took the bowlers and hit boundaries and sixes from the beginning. He just played 24 balls and hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. After his departure, Virat Kohli (101 runs not out) joined the party. He scored his 49th ODI century and equaled the record of Sachin Tendulkar. He hit 10 fours in his knock. He was timing the ball well and maintained the run rate. He made a brilliant partnership of 134 runs with Shreyas Iyer (77 runs).
Iyer was struggling in the starting but after settling down he showed his great power and hit the ball all over the ground. He hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. In the end Ravindra Jadeja (29 runs not out) and Suryakumar Yadav (22 runs) supported Virat with their destructive gameplay and took the team score to 326 runs in 50 overs by losing 5 wickets.
Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi all got 1 wicket each.
During the chase, Proteas were in no looking winning momentum as they were unable to get big partnerships and as a result wickets fell at regular intervals. Marco Jansen (14 runs) was the highest scorer from the side. As no one tried to stick to the pitch, the whole team got submitted in 27.1 overs after making 83 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled his best ODI figures by taking 5 wickets and gave only 33 runs in his 9 overs. Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav got 2 wickets each. Mohammad Siraj got 1 wicket.
