Jaiswal’s 100 makes Semi Final spot for India

Yashasvi Jaiswal century helps India to post a big score against Nepal. India defeated Nepal in the quarterfinals by 23 runs and forwarded their place to the semis in the Asian Games. 

India posted 202/4 in 20 overs and in reply Nepal scored 179/9 in 20 overs.

The Women’s team of India grabbed the gold medal after defeating Sri Lanka in the final by 19 runs. Sri Lanka women settled with the silver whereas Bangladesh women got the bronze medal after defeating Pakistan team by 5 wickets. 

Indian men’s team skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad after winning the toss opted to bat first. 

The openers gave a solid start to the team. Both Yashasvi Jaiswal (100 runs) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (25 runs) provided 103 runs for the 1st wicket. Jaiswal was looking more aggressive than the Gaikwad. These two took 100 runs in the 10th over. Jaiswal played only 49 balls and showed a full dominance in the opening which also included 8 fours and 7 sixes. Gaikwad on the other hand tried to rotate the strike and couldn’t hit much and took 23 balls ij which he hit 4 fours.     

In the end Rinku Singh (37 runs) the young ladder from U P (Uttar Pradesh) shows his destructive approach towards the end. He just just took 15 balls and hit 2 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. He along with Shivam Dube (25 runs) remained unbeaten in the end and provided a partnership of 52 runs for the 5th wicket. Therefore at last with the rocket firing innings in the end they took their team to 202 runs in 20 overs by the loss of 4 wickets.

Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami got 1 wicket each. 

Nepal during the chase looked little destructive in the starting and in the end but in the middle overs they struggled too much which ultimately cost them the match. Dipendra Singh Airee (32 runs)  once again showed his hard hitting skills as he took only 15 balls and hit 4 sixes in his knock. He was the highest scorer from the side. 

Sandeep Jora (29 runs) shows some hard blasting with his hands. He took just 12 balls to reach there. Kushal Bhurtel (28 runs) took more time to reach there as he played 32 balls in the opening spells. Karan KC (18 runs) tried to hit some runs with the bat but unfortunately the target was out of their hands at that moment. One of the major clauses was that nobody converted their innings to a big one as a result they managed 179 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.    


In this small stadium where sixes were hitting so easily and bowlers were beaten ruthlessly, Ravi Bishnoi showed a great bowling spell as he took 3 wickets and gave only 24 runs in his 4 overs spell. Avesh Khan also grabbed 3 useful wickets. Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets while Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore got 1 wicket.
