‘It’s not an individual game’: Yuzvendra Chahal

Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said during an interview that cricket is a group game not an individual game. All the players who are performing well and the team combination sets perfectly then those players will get a chance to play.

Recently he was in the squad in the ODI against the West Indies where he didn’t get any chance to play. In the 1st T20 he got a chance and grabbed 2 wickets against the Caribbeans. In the 5 match T20 series, India is lagging 1-0 behind and 4 more matches to go. Test and ODI, won by the visiting team 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.

The Indian team is full of talented players and they have a strong bench strength who can make their presence anytime if the team wants. To make a proper playing 11 in the Indian team gets more and more difficult as the debutants are performing well. Recently Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan made their debuts in the Test against the West Indies and both of them showed a fabulous batting performance. Not only this, Mukesh Kumar the Indian pacer also makes his debut and shows a great future to the Indian pace attack.

Yuzvendra Chahal says,

“I’m happy that I get a chance to wear the blue jersey and I’m not at home but traveling with the team. It is not an individual game, I’ve played chess, which is an individual game. This is a team game and when 15 players walk together, out of which 11 plays and we win matches. I’ve not played the last 2-3 series. Previously you would have seen me playing in England or West Indies and Kuldeep Yadav was not playing then. We need to look at the team combination, you’re playing against whom and where are you playing. If tomorrow there is a turning wicket here then you can also field three spinners in the XI."

Against the match they lost and the remaining matches,

“We lost by 4 runs and we played good cricket. We will bounce back in the 2nd match. Last time when I was here (in Providence) in 2019 it was washed out. I have watched a couple of CPL matches but that’s completely different. We look at the wicket and how it’s going to play.”
