Inzamam-ul-Haq is appointed as Pak’s chief selector

One of the greatest Pakistan cricketers, Inzamam-ul-Haq will be appointed as a national team chief selector again. Previously he served for the same post from 2016 to 2019. In that duration, Pakistan won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy by defeating India in the final.

Inzamam is regarded as the most consistent player for his team. He played more than 450 international matches and scored more than 20,000 runs in his international career. Not only this he also led his national team for several years. He won many bilateral series in his captainship and was considered as one of the most successful captains for his national side.

It will be a great boost to the team as the Asia Cup and World Cup is not far behind and his selection before these two bigger trophies will definitely help the team in team selection. They will start their journey in the WC23 from 6th October against Sri Lanka.

Inzamam-ul-Haq says,

“It’s an honour for me to be appointed as the chairperson of the national men’s selection committee. I am thankful to Mr Zaka Ashraf for offering me this post. It is wonderful to see the chairman is involving former players in the cricketing matters. I have worked previously in this role and I am eager to work in it once again.

I had a good run in the last tenure. We had famous victories with the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 being the highlight, but my most important achievement is that around 70-80 percent of the cricketers, selected back then, form the core of today’s sides. That was in transition, but this team is stable and I would not face the same challenges.

Heading a selection committee is a tough job in Pakistan, but it is going to be more challenging this time with the ACC Men’s Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup around the corner followed by the tour of Australia. But I know I can deliver in this role and I will try to do better than I did the last time. Despite the paucity of time, we will announce the best possible sides.”
