India got a victory from a mere loss as they defeated England by 5 wickets on the 4th Test. Now they clinch the series by 3-1 with one more match remaining that will be held in Dharamshala.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the 4th day where they left on day 3. Both of them added more 44 runs to their day 3 score when Jaiswal (37 runs) went to pavilion. Rohit (55 runs) was looking in great touch but his patience gave up and tried to defend by stepping out.
Suddenly the score was 5 wickets and only 120 runs were made by the home team and they needed 72 more runs to win. The winning hope of the team was diminishing, but then Shubman Gill (52 runs not out) and Dhruv Jurel (39 runs not out) came as a saviour and clinched the victory from the mouth of the English team.
Gill has played tremendously well, especially in the 2nd innings he became a wall. In this series in 2nd innings he scored 0, 104, 91, 52*. Today he played a victorious knock as he played 124 balls and hit only 2 sixes. His patience in this innings made him survive till the last moment.
On the other hand, keeper batter Dhurv again proved his worth which he already showed in the 1st innings where he scored brilliant 90 runs. When he came to bat, the team lost their 5 wickets, but he kept his patience level on and hit the victory run with his bat. In his 39 runs knock he played 77 balls and hit 2 fours.
Therefore in 61 overs, India scored 192 runs by the loss of 5 wickets.
Shoaib Bashir once again got the nerves of the batsmen with his spin and took 3 wickets. Tom Hartley and Joe Root got 1 wicket each.
Now India will meet England in the 5th Test in Dharamsala on 7th March.
