A dominating batting performance by the whole unit of India registered a 255 runs lead at the end of day 2 of 5th Test. They scored 473 runs in 120 overs by losing 8 wickets.
Rohit Sharma (103 runs) and Shubman Gill (110 runs), carried their momentum where they left on day 1 and scored brilliant centuries. Rohit played 162 balls and hit 13 fours and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 63.58 whereas Gill showed more aggressiveness than the skipper as he played 150 balls and hit 12 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 73.33.
Debutante Devdutt Padikkal (65 runs) scored his maiden half-century. He showed a huge patience in his 103 ball knock where he hit 10 fours and a six. Sarfaraz Khan (56 runs) carried his brilliant form in the series and scored another 50+ runs in his debut series.
After that suddenly the wickets started to fall and looks like the whole will get submitted before the day ends. But tailender Kuldeep Yadav (27 runs not out) and Jasprit Bumrah (19 runs not out) opened their defence and remained unbeaten at the end of the day. Both of them have a 45 runs stand till now for the 9th wicket.
Shoaib Bashir got 4 wickets whereas Tom Hartley got 2 wickets. James Anderson and Ben Stokes got 1 wicket each. Stokes bowled for the very first time in this series and got the crucial wicket of the opposition leader.
