Bumrah and Surya led India to a great victory in their first Super 8 match. They defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs.
India scored 181/8 in 20 overs and in reply Afghanistan scored 134/10 in 20 overs.
In their last group matches, India’s match got washed out due to rain against Canada whereas Afghanistan got a heavy bash against West Indies.

Suryakumar Yadav showed his consistency with the bat and this time he got more aggressive than his last half-century. He scored 53 runs in just 28 balls and hit 5 fours and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 189.29. He got good support from Hardik Pandya and both of them added 60 runs for the 5th wicket.
Pandya scored 32 runs in 24 balls. Virat Kohli this time looked much more balanced but couldn’t take his knock to much longer after he managed 24 runs in 24 balls.
Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi got 3 wickets each. Naveen-ul-Haq got 1 wicket.
In the chase, Afghan batters were unable to stand against the bowlers. They keep losing wickets one after the other due to which no big partnerships were created. Azmatullah Omarzai was the highest scorer from the side with 26 runs with the bat.
Jasprit Bumrah showed his brilliancy with the bowl once again and grabbed 3 wickets in his 4 overs and conceded only 7 runs. He got one maiden over in his spell. Arshdeep Singh also took 3 wickets in his spell. Kuldeep Yadav got 2 wickets while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket each.
