Ex Pakistan pacer, Sarfraz Nawaz gets his 1st pension after 2017. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended his payments when Sarfraz Nawaz made some defamatory statements related to the former PCB chairman Najam Sethi.
Payments of Nawaz were discontinued due to his allegations against the former chairman and as a result the board stopped his pension under the policy of violation of code of conduct under the Players Welfare Policy.
Then the new chairman, Zaka Ashraf who replaced Najam Sethi in few months ago met with Nawaz and they both resolve the issue together and as a result Ashraf hand over the cheque to Nawaz in presence of technical committee head, Misbah-ul-Haq and member Mohd Hafeez.
Nawaz’s health is not going well and his pending pension amount will help him alot in his medical treatments.
Zaka Ashraf, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman,
“It is disappointing that the previous administrations have used the PCBs coffers to settle the personal scores. No cricketer should have to go through what Nawaz had to face, and I want to reassure every former and current cricketer - international or domestic - that the PCB considers them as its asset and will look after them at every stage of their life, and in every possible way. They deserve to be loved and respected by their cricket board.”
Sarfraz Nawaz, says,
“I have visited the National Cricket Academy after almost six years and received a warm welcome from the PCB officials. I am pleased that Mr Zaka Ashraf has reinstated my pension. In a voluntary capacity, I offer honorary services to the board to enhance fast bowlers skills for cricket advancement.”
