After 5 losses back to back England registered their victory after defeating Netherlands by 160 runs.
England scored 339/9 in 50 overs and in reply the Dutch team only managed 179/10 in 37.2 overs.
England, after winning the toss, opted to bat first.
Dawid Malan (87 runs) continued his last match form and again scored a half century. He missed his 2nd century in the World Cup by 13 runs. He hit 10 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Then suddenly the team lost 6 wickets at regular intervals. Then a brilliant partnership was made between Ben Stokes (108 runs) and Chris Woakes (51 runs) of 129 runs.
Stokes hit his maiden century in the World Cup and hit 6 boundaries and 6 sixes in his knock. With his destructive knock the team was able to post 339 runs on the board in 50 overs by losing 9 wickets.
Bas de Leede got 3 wickets while Aryan Dutt and Logan van Beek got 2 wickets each. Paul van Meekeren got 1 wicket.
During the chase, the Dutch team provided some valuable knocks but didn’t get converted into big ones. Wesley Barresi (37 runs) got a start but played slow as he took 62 balls to reach there. Then Sybrand Engelbrecht (33 runs) also got a good start but couldn’t get off better.
In the end, skipper Scott Edwards (38 runs) and Teja Nidamanuru (41 runs not out) made a partnership of 59 runs, but as the skipper departed the team suddenly submitted 179 runs in 37.2 overs.
The spinners did a brilliant job as both Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali got 3 wickets each. David Willey and Chris Woakes got 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
