Babar Azam is currently one of the best batsman from the side as he scored in most of the matches. But got little offset with his scoring runs a few months back and later on started to get back into his rhythm well.
Former Pakistan women team coach Basit Ali showed his disappointment towards the selectors for not taking Babar on continuous red ball matches.
Earlier, the former skipper was dropped from the test squad against England. After that he made a comeback in the test series against South Africa where out of 4 innings he got past 50+ scores thrice.
Through his youtube channel, Basit said, “Pakistan is damaging Babar’s confidence when he has just regained his rhythm. Since Pakistan won’t qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, it would be wise to rest him. If you want to keep him in the Playing XI, prepare better pitches. If the pitch is similar to the first Test, it could harm the players’ confidence further. Babar struggled in the first Test, but he found his form in South Africa, scoring runs in both ODIs and Tests.”
Earlier also Basit Ali suggested to PCB that they should take former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed as a mentor for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Since he won the last Champions Trophy that was in 2017, which will help the current team to win the trophy.
Since Pakistan is the host of the upcoming ICC event, therefore the inaugural match will be between them and New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. They are currently in Group A where the other two teams are India and Bangladesh.
