Teams Analysis

England (ENG):

The defending champion is yet to open their account in the T20 World Cup. Their 1st match got washed out against Scotland while the 2nd against Aussies got them lost. They need to win this match to be in contention for the tournament. They are in 4th place with 1 point in their group. The performance has been decent till now in both of the departments.

Skipper Jos Butler looked a little aggressive against Aussies in the last match where he scored 42 runs and had a strike rate of 150. His partner Phil Salt has also looked in decent touch with 37 runs at the start. Both of them were also in incredible form in the recent IPL season.

On the other hand, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, the all-rounders of the team, played a little decent in the last match. Moeen scored 25 runs and got a wicket where Livingstone scored 15 runs and got a wicket. But Livingstone misses his finishing role in quite some time and needs to get back to his ruthless form again.

Harry Brook also missed his destructive form in the last few innings due to which he got only 20 runs in the last match against Australia.

Looking at the bowling, they choked fully against Scotland as they didn’t get any wickets and against Aussies they were treated harshly at the start but somehow they made a comeback towards the end and got some wickets to his pockets. Chris Jordan has taken most wickets currently with 2 to his name but he is expensive in his spells as his economy touches 11.33.

Jofra Archer is currently their best bowler in terms of economy as it is currently 6.67 and has taken only one wicket till now. He needs to buckle up so that he can do better for the team.

Probable Playing 11 of England (ENG):

Jos Butler (c & wk), Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Chris Jordan, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.

Oman (OMN):

They became the first team in this tournament to get out of the Super 8 round. This match will be their last match in this tournament. They are currently at the bottom of the table in their group as they lost 3 out of 3 matches. Being an underdog team, they performed decently. One of them against Australia, where they make Aussies sweat for the victory.

The middle order batter, Ayan Khan is currently the team’s leading runs scorer with 92 runs in his credit. Though he got scores with the bat, his strike rate, which is 102.22 is almost a run ball, which makes a huge difference in the scoreboard. The opener and keeper, Pratik Athavale, is the only player in the team who scored a half-century in this tournament. He scored brilliant 54 runs against Scotland in the last match.

Skipper Aqib IIyas has shown disappointment in both the departments. He got just 34 runs with the bat and has a strike rate of 136, while with the bowl he got 2 wickets with an economy of 6.91.  The other opener of the team Naseem Khushi just managed 16 runs with a strike rate of 106.67.

Looking at their bowling, Mehran Khan is their leading wicket-taker in this tournament with 6 wickets to his name. But the economy is slightly higher, which is 7.62. His best came against Namibia where he got 3 wickets. After him, the most experienced bowler Bilal Khan got the most wickets, which is 3. He needs to do a little decent performance so that the team can end up winning the match.

Probable Playing 11 of Oman (OMN):

Aqib IIyas ©, Pratik Athavale (wk), Naseem Khushi, Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, Ayaan Khan, Mehran Khan, Rafiullah, Shakeel Ahmed, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan.

Pitch Report for the match between England (ENG) and Oman (OMN):

The match will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. This is known for batter’s paradise as a lot of runs can be scored here. The pitch assisted batters mostly as the bowl came directly to the bat easily. Spinners might get some turn at the start of the innings. Therefore bowling first might be a great choice after winning the toss.
