Delhi Capitals (DC) maintained their dominance and this time they showed their dominance against Gujarat Giants (GG). Delhi won the match by 25 runs.
Capitals won their last match against RCB where they defeated them by 25 runs where Gujarat won all their four matches and their playoff hopes almost diminished. The Giants last defeat came against UPW by 6 wickets.
After winning the toss, Gujarat opted to bowl first.
Delhi’s skipper Meg Lanning took the charge of the batting in the batting as she scored a brilliant 55 runs in 41 balls in which she hit 6 fours and a six. She charged the way for the team. Later Alice Capsey (27 runs) and Annabel Sutherland (20 runs) threw some spark to the scoring.
Due to the skipper’s huge contribution, the team finally managed to put 163 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
Meghna Singh claimed 4 wickets and Ashleigh Gardner got 2 wickets. Tanuja Kanwar and Mannat Kashyap got 1 wicket each.
In the chase, the same story line for the team repeats as their top order again failed miserably. Ashleigh Gardner got some healthy runs with the bat as she scored 40 runs, but got no support from the other end.
In the end, the team only managed 138 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets.
Jess Jonassen and Shikha Pandey claimed 3 wickets each. Shikha Pandey and Arundhati Reddy got 1 wicket each.
