DC’s last-ball survival against RCB

Delhi Capitals (DC) registered 1 run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The match goes till the last ball, where Capitals stand above Bangalore. 

In their previous encounter in WPL 2024, the Capitals raised their hand above the Royals as they defeated them by 25 runs

After winning the toss, Delhi’s skipper opted to bat first. 

Jemimah Rodrigues (58 runs) carried his last match form and hit back to back half-century. She was well supported by Alice Capsey (48 runs) from the other end. Both of them added 97 runs for the 3rd wicket. Jemimah played 36 balls and hit 8 fours and a six, while Capsey played 32 balls and hit 8 fours. 

A superb partnership between these two took Capitals to 181 runs in 20 overs by losing 5 wickets. 

Bangalore’s Shreyanka Patil bowled beautifully as she grabbed 4 wickets while 1 wicket was taken by Asha Sobhana.

In the chase, Challengers captain Smriti Mandhana (5 runs) departed early. But Ellyse Perry (49 runs) and Sophie Mollineux (33 runs) got 80 runs for the 2nd wicket. 

But team’s wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh (51 runs) turned the match on till the last ball. She showed a pure destructive approach and played 29 balls in which she hit 4 fours and 3 sixes. In the last ball, the team needed 2 runs but unfortunately Richa got run-out and they only managed 180 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. 

Marizanne Kapp, Alice Capsey, Shikha Pandey and Arundhati Reddy got 1 wicket each. 

With this victory, Delhi became the 2nd team after Mumbai to make their seat fix in the playoffs. Also they are now the table topper with 10 points in the points table. Bangalore is currently in 3rd spot with 6 points.
