David Willey superb bowling performance got England 93 runs win over Pakistan. It was also his last international cricket and with this he retired from all forms of cricket.
England scored 337/9 in 50 overs and in reply Pakistan only managed 244/10 in 43.3 overs.
English skipper Jos Butler after winning the toss opted for batting.
The opening pair of England posted 82 runs for the first wicket. Jonny Bairstow (59 runs) scored his 2nd half century of the tournament. Joe Root (60 runs) also ended the World Cup by a brilliant half century. Later Ben Stokes (84 runs) continued his brilliant form and hit another 50+ runs. He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.
In the end, Harry Brook (30 runs) showed little destruction from his side and finally the team put up 337 in 50 overs by losing 9 wickets.
Haris Rauf though was expensive in his initial overs got 3 wickets at the end. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Junior got 2 wickets each. Iftikhar Ahmed settled with 1 wicket.
During the chase, Pakistan lost both of theirs in just 10 runs. Agha Salman (51 runs) tried some good hands with the bat and was the highest scorer from the side. Babar Azam (38 runs) and Mohammad Rizwan (36 runs) started well but were unable to convert those knocks into a big one.
In the end, Haris Rauf (35 runs) showed his destruction and hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his 23 balls inning. At last the whole team got submitted in 43.3 overs and scored 244 runs. It was also their must win match and that by a huge margin to get into the Semis but unfortunately they couldn’t make this.
David Willey in his last international match grabbed 3 important wickets. Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Gus Atkinson got 2 wickets each. Chris Woakes got 1 wicket and with this he became the most wicket taker from his team in the World Cup.
